The purpose of the cotton warehouse flow survey was to provide the cotton industry with a snapshot of baled cotton warehousing practices in the US in 2009. National Cotton Council (NCC) staff began the process by establishing a number of objectives to make sure the survey contained questions that focused on both warehouse bale and data management practices. All surveys interviews were conducted in person or by phone. Thirty-four interviews were conducted and each interview took from an hour and fifteen minutes to three hours to complete.
