Artificial infestations at first flower using 3rd instar tarnished plant bug nymphs were made in a small plot study located at the Judd Hill Reseach Farm in NE Arkansas in 2007 and 2008. Comparisons of plant bug survival and subsequent feeding injury were made that included use of COTMAN, plant bug sampling, in-season and end-of-season plant mapping, and yield component analysis. Results include discussions of how techniques used in the trial may be appropriate for screening new cotton lines for host plant resistance for plant bugs.
