Tarnished plant bug (TPB) populations in, and injury to several cotton varieties was evaluated. Varieties were classified as exhibiting high amounts of damage from TPB, moderate damage or low damage. Varieties from each group were evaluated in larger plots and treated at varying treatment thresholds for TPB. Plant bug numbers and damage were highest in a TX-Frego variety and were lowest in ST4554B2RF. The TX-Frego variety also triggered the highest number of insecticide applications in the large plot portion of the study.
