The overall goal of the project to improve Midsouth cotton production efficiency and reduce production costs while implementing soil and water conservation tactics. In this 2020 Beltwide poster, we will present results from a 2019 field study in Northeast Arkansas where we evaluated cotton seeding rates in cereal rye winter cover crops. Included in the study was how timing of spring termination of the cover crops affected pest risks from thrips. The study also included consideration of production and within-field variability in soil texture determined using a dual EM and Veris Soil Surveyor.
