Evaluation of Variable Rate Seeding in Cotton

This research was conducted to evaluate the Directed Rx method for variable rate seeding prescription development in cotton and to evaluate the economic and agronomic factors associated with variable rate seeding in cotton. Uniform seeding rate strips were planted across the soil texture variability in a typical SC coastal plain field as well as strips containing the prior prescription. Cotton will be harvested using a cotton picker equipped with a yield monitor and profit response to seeding rate and the prescription will be evaluated for each soil texture zone in the field.
