We will present results from a 2018 field study in Northeast Arkansas where we evaluated three cotton seeding rates in systems with and without different winter cereal cover crops. Included in the study was how timing of spring termination of the cover crops affected pest risks from thrips and tarnished plant bugs. The study also included consideration of within-field variability in soil texture. The overall goal of the project to improve production efficiency and reduce production costs while implementing soil and water conservation tactics.
