Cotton was irrigated using overhead irrigation in South Carolina. Irrigation timing was determined by soil moisture sensor thresholds maintained the entire season at 25, 50 and 75% maximum allowable depletion at three depths. Root cores were also obtained at 5-leaf and full bloom where a root analyzer and software program quantified plant roots by irrigation treatment, replication, and within the row and row middle.
