In south Texas, cotton stalk destruction after harvest is necessary to prevent overwintering of boll weevil. This is commonly achieved by applying 2,4-D after harvest to effectively kill cotton. With the introduction of 2,4-D-tolerant cotton varieties, alternative herbicides must be identified. Studies were conducted in 2018 at several locations in south Texas to investigate the efficacy of dichlorprop and dicamba applied at various timings for controlling 2,4-D tolerant cotton varieties.
