The management of Palmer amaranth has changed since the discovery of glyphosate resistant populations across the US including west Texas. Dicamba tolerant cotton systems that utilize XtendiMax® with VaporGrip Technology ® provide a new method to manage glyphosate resistant populations of weeds. The use of Liberty® 280 SL (glufosinate) plus a postemergence residual herbicide, Warrant (acetochlor), adds new modes of action in a dicamba system and could help sustain the new technology from rapid development of herbicide resistance. The purpose of this study was to determine how the sequential order of XtendiMax and Liberty with and without Warrant influences Palmer amaranth management when applied at different growth stages: 1-4 in, 5-8 in, and 12+ inches.
