Green stink bug, Acrosternum hilare (Say), transcriptomes were constructed by sequencing cDNA from nymph and adult whole-body homogenates on the Illumina® Genome Analyzer IIx. The insects were collected from sites in North Carolina and Virginia, USA. The cDNA library for each sample was sequenced on one GAIIx flow-cell lane. The reads were trimmed and assembled into contigs. Contigs were aligned, mapped, and annotated using Balst2GO software (Conesa et al., 2005). Analysis of these transcriptomes is aimed at identifying new potential plant transgenic approaches for the control of this pest.
