Module averaging is a voluntary program offered by the USDA, AMS, Cotton Program since 1991 to Cotton Program customers at no additional charge.  It is a method to improve the accuracy of HVI measurements of cotton fiber qualities for strength, length, length uniformity, and micronaire.  Now with growing demands on shipping and delivery, module averaging could be a much more valuable alternative.  Twenty years after its inception, module averaging remains a very valuable option to cotton producers.
