Sulfoxaflor is a new broad-spectrum sap-feeding insecticide, which is effective at low use rates, is fast acting, has residual activity and is non-disruptive to beneficial insects. Extensive testing has demonstrated no cross-resistance between sulfoxaflor and any other insecticide class. Nine small-plot replicated field trials are presented in this paper. These data show that sulfoxaflor gave excellent initial and residual control of both C. dilutus and A. gossypii at 48 to 72 g ai/ha. Sulfoxaflor will be a valuable tool for Australian cotton growers following its anticipated registration in 2012.
