Evaluation of A Novel Dry Mepiquat Formulation to Current Products

Two field studies were conducted during 2009 comparing all current major mepiquat chloride products to several new dry formulations of mepiquat. The two studies were conducted in Quitman County, MS. Applications were started at Match Head Square and continued at 9 day intervals for a total of four applications. Tests were set up in RCB, 40 foot rows, four row sets beside commercial cotton fields. Application rates were determined by MEPRT. Optimum mepiquat plant tissue concentrations were set at 17 ppm. Height and Node measurements were taken from each treatment (averaged of all 6 reps) prior to each application with this information fed into the MEPRT program, which determined the application rate for each product individually.
