Eleven inbred lines were recently developed from inter-specific matings of Sea Island genotypes (Gossypium barbadense, L.) and elite upland genotypes (Gossypium hirsutum, L.). The Sea Island x upland (SIUP) lines were tested in replicated trials at College Station, Texas, in 2008 and 2009. Lint yield, lint function, fiber and morphological data were ascertained. Results suggest that many of these lines have useful traits and could be valuable parental breeding material.
