DP 0920 B2RF and DP 0924 B2RF are new early-mid maturing, semi-smooth leaf varieties from Delta and Pine Land that will be released for commercial sale with the Class of 2009.  DP 0924 B2RF has excellent yield potential and very good fiber quality.  Testing in 2007 revealed that the yield performance of DP 0924 B2RF was 4.2% to 6.1% greater than the leading competitor or Deltapine B2RF checks.  Fiber quality from 2007 tests of DP 0924 B2RF revealed staple of  36.5, micronaire of  4.4 to 4.8, fiber strength of  29.0 g/tex, and uniformity index of 84.0.  DP 0924 B2RF appears to be a widely adapted early-mid maturing variety that should be well adapted to the U.S. cotton growing regions where early to mid maturing varieties are currently grown.  DP 0920 B2RF has similar maturity compared to DP 0924 B2RF, with slightly lower micronaire, similar staple, and relatively stronger performance in dryland cropping situations. Crop management trials including growth regulators, irrigation, date of planting, and defoliation will be summarized and presented as best management practices for DP 0924 B2RF.
