Effects of the Protein Enhancer Chaperone on Boll Weight, Seeds Per Boll, and Seed Weight of Cotton across Central and Eastern Regions of the U.S

Carlos J. Fernandez1, Carlos Correa1, and James Lackey2. (1) Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, 10345 Agnes St., Corpus Christi, TX 78406, (2) LTA Research Management, P. O. Box 193, Taft, TX 78390

Studies were conducted to evaluate the effects of single and double applications of Chaperone on boll weight, seeds per boll, and seed weight of cotton in eleven locations across South Central US. These studies showed that showed that a double application of 5 oz/A of Chaperone at early bloom and two or three weeks later increased boll weight from 5.57 to 6.0 g, increased the average seed weight from 96 mg to 99 mg. These studies showed also that the number of seeds per boll increased by 2 with both a single application of 5 oz/A of Chaperone at early bloom and a double application at early bloom and mid bloom.
