USDA-ARS has launched the Partnerships for Data Innovation (PDI) to use innovative technologies to increase the efficiency of data collection and provide scientists new tools to visualize their data sets. The PDI Cotton program brings together a variety of technologies from Microsoft, ESRI, AgVoice, AgCROS, and Ag Data Commons to help researchers and producers get the most from their resources. The PDI Cotton program is a joint effort of ARS, universities, Cotton Incorporated, and other sectors of the cotton industry. The current PDI field data collection system is based on ArcGIS Survey 123 and will complement other precision agricultural research projects. The survey data can be combined with a cotton quality dashboard to allow researchers to rapidly visualize their data across multiple locations and years. These tools will streamline the collection and dissemination of data. This presentation will provide an overview of the current pilot project and inform those in the research community of possibilities for the development of this program.
