Heat stress and related fruiting structure loss is of concern to low desert cotton growers. The 2020 production season was very hot with many night-time heat stress events, resulting in heat stress related losses for an extended time period. BioHold was evaluated on four Pima and two upland cotton varieties to document its effectiveness in reducing fruiting structure loss. Applications were made on an approximately 10 day interval starting in July until early September to large scale replicated field strips. Aborted green fruiting structures in furrows were counted from four locations/plot on about a 10 day interval over the same time period. Data indicated that BioHold usage resulted in significantly fewer aborted fruiting structures (approximately 45%). The level of loss reduction was consistent across the various cotton varieties and species involved.
