Three Years of ThyrvOnTM Technology

Bayer Crop Science’s ThryvOn™ Technology will be the industry’s first cotton biotech trait that will provide season long protection against tarnished plant bug and thrips species.* Studies were conducted across the cotton belt in 2018-2020 to determine the best placement and educational approach for ThryvOn™ technology.  In locations that had moderate to high thrips pressure, the presence of thrips was significantly reduced along with the plant injury from thrips in cotton containing the ThryvOn™ technology compared to the check, which did not contain the ThryvOn™ technology. Additionally, in locations with moderate to high tarnished plant bug pressure, the presence of tarnished plant bugs was also significantly reduced in cotton containing the ThryvOn™ technology compared with the check.  The reduction in tarnished plant bugs resulted in a significant increase in fruit retention and yield in cotton containing this unique technology.  Further details, along with the durability of the ThryvOn^TM technology, will be reviewed.
