Directed Prescriptions (D-RX) is a method of variable rate prescription developed by Clemson University, which uses yield data from uniform rate strips to direct the most profitable rate within each of several zones. These rates are then assigned as the variable rate prescription for the following crop year. Six site years of data is presented, evaluating the profit-potential of variable rate nitrogen prescription on cotton using the D-RX system. Yield, turnout, and fiber quality are also discussed as a function of uniform nitrogen rates.
