Measuring cotton variability in early planted rainfed system presents some unique challenges. Poor stand establishments in early planted material provide low density plantings at rates producers would consider a loss and cause for replanting. This variability in stand establishments provides us with model data to examine the physiological effects of plant compensation in a production rainfed system. Data was collected via UAV (Phantom 4 Pro) at weekly intervals. Blob image analysis focused on canopy closure rates, flowering length and rate, and predicted yield.
