The disease, areolate mildew, caused by Ramularia gossypii is a primary source of severe crop losses in major cotton producing countries such as Brazil and India. Historically, areolate mildew has not been a cause of significant crop losses in the United States. In 2016, it was observed in the southeastern cotton growing region. In the 2018 growing season, a large amount of disease was observed throughout Alabama. These observations will be presented.
