Using Canepeo As a Tool for Measuring Early Season Vigor in Cotton Variety Trials

Canapeo is a free and easy-to-use app that can be downloaded to a tablet or smart phone with both iOS and Android devices. The app takes a digital photo and is able to distinguish the percentage of green color in the frame of the photo taken. The objective was to evaluate the canapeo app as an objective number based system compared to a subjective visual rating of seedling cotton in 12 cotton variety trials throughout East Georgia. The canapeo app may provide more precise and accurate measurements when evaluating early season vigor between treatments.
