The objective of this study was to evaluate fluopyram-treated cotton seeds against Southern root-knot nematode to see where in the infection process the compound had an effect, if any. Cotton plants were maintained in a greenhouse and plants were harvested and evaluated weekly. In order to observe the effect on penetration and establishment of a permeant feeding site, the roots were stained and gall counted. In order to observe the effect fluopyram had on reproduction rate, eggs were collected from roots and counted. The overall effect of fluopyram was compared to the compound abamectin, with known nematicidal activity.
