Description:
- Justification: Reducing drift and achieving consistent coverage through the use of Redball® Gen II Hoods for cotton growers and helping to manage resistant weeds.
- Objective: Demonstrate to cotton growers the unique Redball Broadcast Hood design that helps enclose the spray pattern reducing pesticide exposure to the wind, and can also capture spray fines that could minimize the potential of inversion problems. Also show cotton growers other benefits of the spray hood including:
- More spray delivered on targeted pests
- Better planning and time management
- Weed resistance management
- Materials & Methods: Spray drift testing conducted by Mississippi State and the University of Nebraska in 2015 and 2016 indicate the Redball Gen II Broadcast Hood design significantly reduces particle drift regardless of tip or size when compared to the same on an open boom.
- Results: Present to cotton growers the environmental and economic benefits of Redball Gen II Broadcast Hoods.
