Cotton samples were tested to see if trash content had an effect on fiber quality measurements. Samples were tested dirty and cleaned, spun into yarns, and yarns tested. These results were compared to expected performance based on previous yarn performance modeling on low trash content yarns. Trash content could likely have a negative effect on the consistency and accuracy of fiber measurements and adversely affect breeding programs using said data.
