Tarnished plant bug (TPB), Lygus lineolaris, is the most damaging insect pest of cotton in Mississippi.  In 2014, TPB cost growers an average of $42.11 an acre in control cost and yield reduction.  The primary method used in controlling TPB are insecticide sprays.  With limited modes of action for growers to choose from, resistance is an issue.  Data from Mississippi State insecticide efficacy trials conducted over the past 8 years was compiled to evaluate past and present control of TPB.
