2015 was the inaugural year for the NC On-Farm Cotton Variety Evaluation Program.  This program is the result of a noteworthy effort from the NC Cotton Producer’s Association with support from NC State University, The NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, and Cotton Incorporated.  This program is directed by NC State University Cotton Agronomists, Dr. Guy Collins and Keith Edmisten, and is implemented by the significant efforts of county agents and cooperating growers across the state.  In 2015, there were 17 replicated on-farm trials established, representing a broad range of geopraphies, soil types, and yield environments.  These trials included the same 10 varieties representing all major seed companies.  This program will help growers indentify the degree of variety stability across environments, and will enable growers to make wise variety choices and position them appropriately into various soils and environments.
