These studies are part of the Pakistan and United States joint cotton project and have great significance in terms of defining novel native genes for resistance in cotton to the cotton leaf curl disease menace in Pakistan. This proactive approach to combat this disease will protect cotton yield in Pakistan and provide a safety net if the disease escalates to the US.
