“Gin Exchange” is a new member-based website which brings together a wide range of important tools and resources for gin managers, owners and other stakeholders (including growers). Using the power of the Internet, the site is situated to become an online community of sorts, unifying cotton gins across the country. From providing a means for ginners to exchange equipment (example: classified ads for used equipment), to share expertise on technical topics (such as in forums), and to distribute more broad expertise (such as with blogs), the site seeks to meet the needs of its members in an era when communication, professional dialogue and other tangible transactions are occurring more and more in the “cybersphere” and which are constantly evolving. Starting with the aforementioned practical tools (such as the ability to read and post classified ads) and advancing to more indirect channels--such as inter-association communication and coordination–the site will continue to grow and develop to serve the needs of its members and the industry at large.
