ETX is a new formulation of pyraflufen ethyl offered from Nichino America, Inc.  Currently ETX is registered for use as both a herbicide for weed control and as a harvest aid for defoliation and desiccation.  While most cotton producers are familiar with the original formulation of pyraflufen ethyl (ET), they have little or no experience with this new formulation.  In addition, Sharpen and Display are similar chemistries (ppo inhibitors offered by BASF and FMC, respectively) that have been recently registered for use as harvest aids in cotton.  This project was established to evaluate the performance of ETX and compare it to both Display and Sharpen.  ETX and Display were applied at two rates while Sharpen was applied at  a single rate.  Applications were made on September 26th, 2013 to cotton that was approximately 60-70% open.  Defoliation and open boll evaluations were taken at 7 and 14 days after treatment.  Regrowth was evaluated at 21 days after treatment.  The data was subjected to analysis of variance and conclusions will follow.
