The use of PPO enzyme inhibitors as a cotton harvest aid has increased significantly over the past several years due to their rapid defoliation activity, suppression of juvenile regrowth, and ability to perform under various environmental conditions at relatively low cost. The PPO-inhibitor Display™ has been developed for use as a cotton harvest aid in the U.S. by FMC Corporation. Field studies conducted during the 2011 and 2012 seasons will be presented to demonstrate the value of this new product as a harvest aid when applied at various rates in combinations with hormonal defoliation products containing ethephon and thidiazuron. Display cotton harvest aid received EPA registration during the third quarter of 2012 and is formulated as a 2.02 lb/gal emulsifiable concentrate.
