The Universal Cotton Standards Conference is scheduled for the week of June 17, 2013. Important proposals and matters related to the Universal Cotton Standards will be considered by conference delegates. The delegates are part of an advisory committee appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture. Delegates are composed of cotton producers, ginners, merchants, textile manufacturers and international merchants and spinners. Proposals include the addition of standards for instrument trash measurements. The Universal Cotton Standards Conference will be held in conjunction with a Cotton Inc. conference focusing on a wide range of cotton industry developments. Also, a meeting of the Commercial Standardization of Instrument Testing of Cotton (CSITC) Task Force is scheduled during the week. The CSITC Task Force is part of the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) and has been instrumental in international promotion of the Universal Cotton Standards as the world standard for instrument based cotton classification.
