2011 was an extremely hot and dry year for the Texas High Plains. Some producers began to experiment with different row spacing for planting cotton. Producers who had used 30” and 50” row spacing began to notice a difference in the emergence and the stand of their cotton. The question of comparing traditional 40” row spacing and 30/ 50” row spacing emerged. This study aims to determine if there are advantages in cotton stand establishment, yield, fiber quality and economics when cotton is planted on 30/50” rows as compared to traditional 40” rows.
