DeltaPine cotton varieties are tested under water use efficiency trials to determine response to specific irrigation treatments. This enables proper placement of varieties with growers regarding available water on their farms. Nine trials were conducted across West Texas under specifically managed water treatments, based on crop growth stage, irrigation efficiency, and Et replacement. All parameters of growth stage, maturity, yield, turnout, quality, and cost of irrigation are considered when determining water use efficiency. Data will be presented in a variety of ways to help growers better understand the importance of water use efficiency.
