Cotton growers have rapidly replaced glyphosate-based systems with glufosinate-based systems.  This change is a result in the lack of glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth control achieved with glyphosate systems.  However, when implementing heavy rye cover crops into a glyphosate-based program the level of control achieved can be as effective as a glufosinate-based system.
