PHY499WRF is a new cotton variety developed by Phytogen Seed Company by backcrossing the WideStrike and Roundup Ready Flex transgenic traits into the proprietary conventional line P04X3074. PHY499WRF has demonstrated outstanding yield potential and stability of yield across a broad range of environments in the Mid-South and Southeast since 2008. Averaged across all in-house trials in head-to-head comparisons, PHY499WRF has yielded 12.5% more than PHY375WRF and, as compared to its conventional recurrent parent, PHY499WRF has yielded 3.0% more.  Sequential harvest data indicate that PHY499WRF is about 3 days later maturing than PHY375WRF and about 3 days earlier than PHY565WRF. Consistent with its mid-maturity, GGE Biplot analysis indicates that PHY499WRF has yielded relatively better in the Southeast and the South Delta; however, PHY499WRF has out yielded DP0912B2RF by 3.4% and ST5458B2RF by 7.1% averaged over trials from Leland, MS to Portageville, MS.
