Beltwide 2013 New Product for Industry Description

Agdia, Inc, an Indiana company providing pathogen and trait tests and diagnostic services for agriculture, has developed a rapid DNA based test for field or lab application where the operator requires an easy and rapid test to determine the presence of Fusarium Race 4 in cotton using tissue samples.

Using a new technology that amplifies the DNA sequence of the target pathogen, Agdia has developed a rapid test that amplifies the DNA of the target pathogen without the use of thermo cycling and can be visually read using an ImmunoStrip format by farmers, seed producers, university labs, crop improvement associations and others.

The simplicity of this test makes it appropriate for growers or diagnostic labs to evaluate visually the results within 30 minutes from the time the sample is prepared for testing using Agdia protocol to test and read the test results.  Agdia developed this test with the intention to provide a rapid test without the technical expertise and time required using conventional PCR methods at a cost comparable to PCR testing.

The AmplifyRP© test method will allow the user to sample in the field suspect plant tissue and determine positively the presence or absence of Fusarium Race 4 by testing using the procedures and process described in Agdia test protocol.

We wish to make a “New Product for Industry” presentation featuring an actual test kit and slide presentation.  The AmplifyRP© test will be commercially available in March 2013.
