Recent research by the authors has revealed the use of an ultra-wide bandwidth provides significant advantages that minimizes the influence of neighboring metal bale ties, on the obtained estimate of bale moisture. As the end objective of this research is to produce a commercially suitable sensor, research was conducted into a practical solution between the US FCC communication rules and regulations while still maximizing the bandwidth to achieve the enhanced accuracy of the recently developed metal bale-tie mitigation protocol.
