TransformTM (sulfoxaflor) was evaluated for the control of Lygus hesperus in western U.S. cotton from 2007-2011. In studies conducted in private and public research trials in Arizona, California and Texas, it provided excellent control of this troublesome, yield-robbing pest. Results revealed that it provided quick knockdown and excellent residual activity, while showing little activity on natural enemies. TransformTM has an excellent fit in IPM programs and will be a valuable rotational partner with other chemistries as a tool to manage insect populations resistant to other insecticides. Because it also controls cotton aphids and cotton fleahoppers, it will be an important product where multiple pests are present in cotton. Registration of TransformTM in U.S. cotton is anticipated in 2012.
