Valent U.S.A. Corporation announces the addition of two new seed-applied fungicides for 2011 and 2012. METLOCK Fungicide received EPA registration in early 2011 for cotton. METLOCK Fungicide provides excellent control of Rhizoctonia solani, Fusarium seed/seedling dieback, and seed decay associated with various seed-borne pathogens. It also has activity against Thielaviopsis basicola causing black root rot in developing cotton seedlings. University field testing across the cotton beltwide area has shown excellent field performance of METLOCK Fungicide. In Texas, METLOCK treated seeds gave final plant populations that were double that of two competitive standards in the presence of heavy Rhizoctonia solani pressure. Laboratory screenings with Thielaviopsis inoculum showed METLOCK provided a 25% reduction in infection compared to the untreated control.
Rizolex Flowable Fungicide is expected to receive EPA approval in late 2012 and also provides excellent control of R. solani. Rizolex is a broad spectrum, contact fungicide that has demonstrated superior performance to the competitive standards throughout several years of university testing across the south.
The addition of these two new products to Valent’s growing portfolio of seed protection products further demonstrates our commitment to becoming an industry leader in the seed protection market.
