Five sampling strategies for cotton fleahopper and green plant bug were compared on cotton along the Lower Gulf Coast of Texas. Significant seasonal, sampler, and time to sample variability was detected, with the beat cloth method showing promise for cotton fleahopper estimation early in the season over the traditional and more laborious visual method. The beat bucket method showed promise for the green plant bug, similar to past findings with other sucking bugs sampled post-bloom.
