Over-application of manures onto land surrounding large animal feeding operations has resulted in high soil test P concentrations which are a potential threat to the environment. Researchers at Florence have developed methods to remove phosphorus from poultry litter and swine waste water. Greenhouse and field studies were conducted to evaluate the potential of using the recovered material as fertilizer for cotton.
