Cotton cultivar improvements are being made to improve ginning efficiency. “Ginning efficiency” of cotton cultivars has been based on measurements of gin stand energy consumption and ginning rate. Low seed linters content has also been shown to indicate cultivars with low ginning energy and high ginning rate. This paper compares ginning energy, ginning rate, and linters content to fiber-seed attachment force measured with a pendulum-type tester for 15 cultivars.
