Efficacy of Insecticides On Cotton Aphids and Impact On Key Aphid Predators

An aphicide efficacy test was conducted at the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Lubbock, Texas in 2008 and 2009. In addition to impact on aphids, the aphicides were evaluated for impact on key aphid predators.  Intruder, Carbine, and Bidrin were the most efficacious materials tested but did not reduce the aphid population as much as expect in 2009.  Trimax Pro and Centric were ineffective in 2009.  Aphid impact on yield and pesticide impact on key aphid predators will be discussed.
