Six nectariless breeding lines and two commercial nectaried varieties were evaluated for yield and fiber quality traits with and without control of tarnished plant bugs (TPB).  TPB control plots received an insecticide application whenever TPB numbers reached the recommended treatment threshold, while TPB “no control” plots were never treated for TPB.   The nectariless lines tended to suffer less yield loss, required fewer insecticide applications, and treatment threshold was delayed compared to the nectaried commercial checks.
