The use of precision agriculture technologies in cotton production has generally lagged their use in grain crops. This is largely due to the fact that a yield monitor for cotton was not commercially available until several years after a combine yield monitor. This poster presents the current status of adoption of these technologies in Louisiana cotton production. Data for the analysis was obtained from a 2009 survey of cotton producers. The survey is a follow-up to a similar survey conducted in 2005 and the poster presents comparisons between the 2005 and 2009 results. In addition to the demographic data on respondents, the poster presents an analysis of the kinds and amounts of precision technologies currently utilized by cotton producers. In addition, some attention is given to those technologies that were previously adopted and subsequently abandoned. The analysis presented in the poster explores why producers adopted certain precision agriculture technologies.
