Preliminary studies have shown that roller ginning may be able to differentiate between longer and shorter fibers of upland cotton (differential roller ginning).  This study will corroborate theories about what occurs at the ginning point when attempting to remove only the longer fibers off of upland cottonseed.  A high-speed digital camera will be used to video the action at the ginning point.  Separating the longer fiber may not only bring a higher price, but also open up new markets for a better-quality fiber.
