This paper presents the pathway followed to produce cotton plants highly resistant to Rotylenchulus reniformis from the creation of the G. hirsutum x G. thurberi x G. longicalyx hybrid to the production of F1BC3 plants.  The determinism and the origin of the possible sources of resistance introgressed in upland cotton from the trispecific hybrid are discussed.
