10125 Volunteer Cotton and Infestation by the Boll Weevil in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas

Several volunteer cotton locations, primarily in non-agronomic settings, were monitored and various life history data on boll weevil recorded.  Sources and agents contributing to establishment of volunteer cotton plants are discussed.    Plans to identify areas at risk for volunteer cotton establishment and detection methods in support of boll weevil eradication will be presented.
